Hi, I’m LESLIE.
I think what matters is helping people remember the good things and understand the bad things. The way you tell that story can make all the difference.
I am passionate about learning how different life experiences impact the way individuals and communities think about news, democracy, and policy and how digital media can help challenge and complicate (in a positive way) longstanding narratives. After living in five states and working on four continents, I know that storytelling is one of the rare arts that has the power to foster this kind of change by connecting the dots between perspectives and building bridges between communities.
From digital media design and audience engagement to strategic communication, I work with organizations and individuals who are trying to build trust, create meaningful relationships, and amplify those who are working to help others see the world a little bit differently. My work and contributions have appeared in Guardian US, Los Angeles Times, Hartford Courant, The Whole Story, A Beautiful Perspective, Fusion, Huffington Post, National Geographic, Civil Beat, Wild Magazine, and The Bubble in partnership with organizations including the Investigative Reporting Program, Solutions Journalism Network, and Camp4 Collective.
I have B.A. degrees in communication and psychology from University of California, Davis and an M.A. in Journalism focusing on new media storytelling from University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
